C. Moving the RMFT

Installation or Database

to another Machine

In certain situations - for example, to improve performance - you may need to

migrate the RMFT installation or the RMFT database to a new machine. This

appendix outlines the steps needed to perform such migrations, both in a

standalone environment (i.e. a single RMFT Server) and in a DMZ environment (i.e.

two RMFT Servers: one in the internal network and the other in the DMZ).

Note: Some of the procedures below require you to back up and restore packages

and settings using RMFT's Backup and Restore feature. For a complete description

of the Backup and Restore feature, please refer to the RMFT Administrator's

Guide.

Migrating the RMFT Installation

Migrating the RMFT Installation in a Standalone Environment

1. Back up the RMFT packages and settings using RMFT's Backup and

Restore feature.

2. Optionally, delete the RMFT database. This is only necessary if you want

to use the same database name in the new installation.

3. Install RMFT on the new machine. If you did not delete the database, you

will need to specify a different database name during the Site

Configuration stage of the installation.

4. Restore the packages and settings using RMFT's Backup and Restore

feature.

Migrating the Internal RMFT Installation in a DMZ Environment

1. Back up the RMFT packages and settings using RMFT's Backup and

Restore feature.

2. Optionally, delete the internal RMFT database. This is only necessary if

you want to use the same database name in the new installation.
