Key Performance Indicators
Intel SCS 9 uses WMI to extract key performance indicators such as Media Wearout Indicator (a
numeric value set at 100 for new drives which steadily decreases over time) from the SMART
performance data available on Intel SSD Pro Series 1500 drives. A Windows PowerShell script is
included with the Intel SCS 9 installation package for this purpose.
Follow these steps to use the Intel SCS with SSD Pro Series Plug-in to collect KPI data:
1. Copy the SCS-ReadKPI.ps1 script from the \IntelSCS\Solutions_Framework\Scripts directory to
a network share that is accessible from your managed clients.
2. After you have the KPI PowerShell script copied to a location accessible on your clients, run it
by executing the following command line on the client:
.\SCS-ReadKPI.ps1
This command gathers the current SMART performance data for the drive via WMI and presents it in
XML. You can pipe this data to an XML file for local use or include the –publish rcs.fqdn.here switch
to have the data rolled up into the RCS database.
